Article: How to farm Jade/Amber without having to AB

Guildies in the past and presant have left the guild only to come to me a month later, asking me to let them come back. When I ask them why they left to begin with, they turn to me and say "I left because I needed amber for my armor and ABs are the only way to get it!" This has annoyed me to no end.

Well, now, I would like to explain how to gain your 80 pieces of amber or Jade without participating in a single alliance battle:

The Quests:
Please don't tell me "But the quests are SO hard and they take forever!" I've heard that before and honestly, they're not that tough. Yes, I know my primary is a monk and it's easy for me to say however, any character can do them. Most of them give you 400 (or more) faction points. You only need 1000 faction points for a single piece of jade or amber. So doing the repeatable quests as well as the quests in the are that you are working in at the same time, will kill 2 birds with one stone and give you up to 800 faction points. There are usually at LEAST 2 repeatable quests in the area. So if you do the 2 repeatable quests as well as your original quest, hey, you just earned 1200 faction points! Cash those points in and get your piece of jade or amber.

Vanquishing:
When I say Vanquishing, I don't mean in hard mode. Before you do this, please pay attention to where the blue/red line is. If you're farming on the red side, then you're in Luxon territory, blue is Kurzick territory. Just stay in normal mode and speak with the priest outside the outpost/town and for 100 gold, you can get a blessing which will give you about 2000 faction points per area (or 2 pieces of jadeite/amber). Then just go out and kill everything in sight. You will recieve 5 faction points per kill, more for the bosses. This is well worth it, especially if you're working on repeatable quests which will bring you outside another outpost. So doing the math, 800 faction + 2000 faction for vanquishing everything...You just ended up with 2800 faction points, almost enough for 3 jadeite pieces!

I know that many of you are complaining that you don't have the gold to spare or why bother giving the priest 100 gold when you can buy the jade/amber however, trust me when I tell you that you brake even! I have been doing this and each time, I get about 200+ gold plus items that I can sell just for vanquishing the area of monsters. Most of the quests also tend to give you gold (somewhere between 0-300 gold) So are you really going to say that it's not worth it? Besides, jadeite and amber are often more than 200 gold per shard!

The Bank:
Okay, I'll admit those who came over from the formor PINK alliance remember that the guy who was the bank was never on. When I mean never on, I mean he was on for less than a minute before logging off every 3 months. He was just as illusive to get a hold of in person. But ignoring that, there is a bank which Andy and I both have the account information to and if you need ANYTHING from it, please ask us. We have more than enough material and I have been farming Jade and Amber to put into the bank. IF you need materials and see that we're not on, please PM one or both of us and we can get you whatever you're looking for. The only request is if you have any extra dyes or materials that you can spare, just give it to us when you can. The bank is Cassandra Arista which is an old account of mine which is being used as a bank. If the bank doesn't have enough Amber or Jade, which it should, then we will find a way to help you get your hands on the jadeite or amber to get your armor.


In short, there are many ways to get Jade or Amber without even doing an alliance battle! So consider these options and if you are having way too much trouble with this, please let us know and we will be happy to help you with whatever you need!

Due to the update, my article is no longer up-to-date. ArenaNet has now made it so that you need 5000 faction points to get Amber and Jade. Every way that I mentioned will still work.

Also, every kill made in ABs or from monsters under the Kurzick or Luxon blessing is now 10 Faction points rather than 5.
